3: Determining the required illumination level

The illuminance required depends on the lightness of the surroundings and the shade of the façade material. Generally speaking, the secondary facade should be illuminated at half the level of the main facade, so that the difference in light and darkness between the two facades can give a three-dimensional impression of the building.

4: Choosing the right lighting

Generally speaking, square-shaped floodlight have a larger angle of light distribution; round-shaped floodlight have a smaller angle; wide-angle luminaires have a more even effect, but are not suitable for long-distance projection; narrow-angle luminaires are suitable for long-distance projection, but are less even when used at close range.

5: Calculation of illuminance and number of luminaires

After the above steps have been completed, the number of luminaires is determined by calculating the illuminance according to the chosen light source, luminaire and installation location, so that the effect after installation can be as close as possible to the desired one. The appearance of the building is expressed at night by the projection of light, and the resulting effect can be quite different from the feeling of daytime.
